PREPARATION / KNOWLEDGE

A mark is useful when you understand the reason.

Practice questions show where to focus next. They do not replace the official written or practical assessment.

  1. 01Read one topic
  2. 02Explain the answer
  3. 03Return to the gap

01 / PRACTICE TESTS

The official assessment has two parts

WRITTEN TEST

Explain what you know

Questions about safety, terminology and responsibilities.

80% or more
+
PRACTICAL TEST

Show safe habits

An examiner assesses practical handling with training equipment.

80% or more

Each part must be passed. A high written mark cannot make up for a failed practical test. Unsafe actions can cause a practical-test failure.

PRACTICE QUESTION

A person has passed CFSC. What have they completed?

  1. The training assessment for that course.
  2. The government’s licence review.
  3. Every requirement for restricted firearm ownership.
CHECK YOUR UNDERSTANDINGWhich answer fits, and why?Reveal the explanation +

The first answer fits. Passing CFSC meets that course’s training assessment. Licence review comes after the separate application, and restricted privileges involve additional training and other requirements. Notice that the explanation connects the answer to the process rather than merely giving a letter.

A good learning question helps you explain a distinction. If you answered correctly but cannot say why, treat it as a topic to review. If you answered incorrectly, the explanation gives you a starting point for the next session. Neither result is an official assessment.

03 / PRACTICE TESTS

A useful practice routine

  1. Read one topic

Start with the idea and the meaning of unfamiliar words.

  2. Try questions without looking

Notice what you understand and what you guessed.

  3. Review the explanation

An answer without a reason is hard to remember reliably.

  4. Return to the weak topic

Repeat after a break. Aim to explain the concept, not recall a letter.

04 / PRACTICE TESTS

What an online practice score cannot tell you

It cannot certify safe practical handling, replace the instructor’s assessment or decide your licence eligibility. Practice questions are learning tools, not leaked official exam papers or a guarantee of passing.

For hands-on skills, work with your approved instructor. Do not improvise practical training with an unfamiliar firearm because a quiz explanation made sense.

05 / PRACTICE TESTS

If you feel nervous about testing

These are introductory courses. Prepare the vocabulary, plan a full day without rushing and tell the provider about learning or accessibility needs before booking. Ask how written and practical assessments are organized and what the retest process is.

Confidence should come from understanding and supervised practice. You do not need to pretend that you already know the terminology.

06 / PRACTICE TESTS

Review the mistake, not just the mark

What you missed

Identify whether the difficulty came from vocabulary, confusing two processes or not understanding a responsibility. Those are different learning gaps. Repeating the same question without identifying the gap may only teach you to recognize its wording.

Read the explanation, find the matching topic and explain the idea back to yourself. Then try it later in a different context.

07 / PRACTICE TESTS

Keep practice focused and manageable

Use short, purposeful sessions: one topic, a few questions, a review of the reasoning and one note for next time. Longer sessions are not automatically better if you are repeatedly selecting remembered answers.

Before official assessment, make sure you understand the provider’s schedule and have arranged any approved support. Online question practice can prepare your knowledge; the instructor-led learning prepares and assesses practical skills.
